Countless Makes A Winning Debut
The first night meeting of the season at Turffontein proved to be fruitful for the stable as debutante Countless showed a touch of class when winning the first race on the card on Tuesday night.
The daughter of Count Du Bois, bred by Klawervlei Stud, ran out an easy winner of the Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate, skating in by 2,50 lengths. With this opener under her belt and the prospect of more to come, Countless looks set to give her owners Bernard Kantor and Markus Jooste countless joy.
Another noteworthy performance on the night by a stable inmate was that of Argentinean-bred Blueridge Mountain, a three-year-old daughter of Giant’s Causeway. Impressive when winning on debut at Clairwood in June, this was the fillie’s first outing this season and she took her place in a very competitive Three-Year-Old Fillies Progress Plate that included the likes of Honorine.
Blueridge Mountain put up a sterling performance as she showed pace and stayed on gamely but found one too good on the night as Tinchy Stryder collared her on the winning post. The effort was full of merit and Blueridge Mountain looks set to go from strength to strength. (CC 16/10/12)
