Fish River Canyon enjoyed the soft underfoot conditions to win the third race of her career in good style at the Vaal over 1500m on 23 November 2017. Once again well ridden by champion apprentice Lyle Hewitson, he gave her every chance and produced his run at the right time to win comfortably. Champion South African apprentice Lyle Hewitson, timed his run on Fish River Canyon to perfection, to get her in front at the line to win a competitive MR 68 Fillies & Mares Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein on 19 September 2017.
